Probably a thousand times. Most likely more. Driving through Schroeder, MN, there is a road sign for Father Baraga’s Cross that points toward Lake Superior. I almost passed this historical marker again on a sleepy 10.11.20 dawn. But, for some reason, as soon as I met the sign near to mile marker #78, I turned off to investigate this curious landmark. That turn resulted in one of my best decisions for Superior sunrise shooting yet…

Carlton Peak: Oh, What A View!
Eric and I headed North for a couple days in June, antsy to soak up some Minnesota summertime adventure and to tackle a few 142C condo projects. We had never made the 7-mile round trip trek to Carlton Peak and decided to follow the Superior Hiking Trail along this rugged and vast stretch of wild Minnesota wonderment…am I ever glad we did. 2018 Highlights
As we wrap-up 2018 and bundle those precious memories together with a bow, we’re sharing some of the meaningful moments that really set the year apart. Were there high hills and speed bumps? (A metaphor my husband Eric and son Evan like to use.) Yes. Without a doubt. But, do we close the year on a high note with a whole lot of gratitude? Indeed. Continue reading “2018 Highlights”
Superior-Made Art Found in Lutsen
Nestled just to the north of Lutsen, MN, there’s a treasure trove of made-from-the-heart art, collectibles, gifts & beautiful goods waiting to be discovered at Kah-Nee-Tah Gallery. Split into a charming two-building haven, this art playground features the works and wares of wonderful North Shore-based and regional artists. The welcoming gallery also offers hands-on painting and crafting workshops for wannabes like me. They even rent cabins near the shore, which are BFF approved for those of us with best furry friends in tow! You’ve got to see the depth of beauty and artistic talent on display at Kah-Nee-Tah Gallery…
Lutsen’s Lovely Vista
It’s fall along Minnesota’s North Shore and golden days await, friends. The Sawtooth Mountains that encircle Lutsen become illuminated with autumn’s favorite colors: the yellow-green poplar, amber-hued aspen, flaxen birch, orange and crimson maple. Off-set this striking forested landscape against a magnificent Lake Superior backdrop and prepare for your heart to burst wide open with humble affection for this wondrous state we call home! Earlier this month, our amazing photographer friend Elizabeth_after60 on Instagram visited 142C to take in the October vistas and she captured these amazing images of her Lutsen Mountain gondola adventure for us to enjoy. Thank you, Elizabeth, for sharing!
