Arrived home and still unpacking after a super fun – and powdery – ski trip to Lutsen Mountains. Wanted to bundle some outtakes of the striking winter beauty taking shape along Minnesota’s scenic North Shore…and, an Evil Knievel sighting!
The good news…ski & board conditions are amazing with all the snow, 50 inches and counting. Avid skiers, like this patriotic gentleman, were fun to watch and made all the runs look easy – of course! Light flakes sporadically sprinkled the hill sides making for many magical moments. And, friendly and neighborly company was all around! On the flip side, Mystery Mountain wasn’t open yet, but overall stunning and well-groomed slopes await, friends!
We’ll rewind just a bit and begin with the drive north along Minnesota’s I-35E and Highway 61. Thanks, Zach, for driving the better part of the trek…
That meant I was able to catch more snaps…
Once we arrived at 142C Caribou Highlands, the snow was in abundance! For example…
On day one, we started on our favorite hill adjacent to the ski-in-ski-out condos at Caribou Highlands called Bridge Run along Eagle Mountain.

It’s just a two minute trek from 142C, across the parking lot, then up on to the slopes.

The temps were steady, no negative wind chills to contend with and breathtaking views from every direction. The vista from atop Eagle Mountain, for example…

Remember those sparkly flakes that set the scene for those magical moments? Here’s one that occurred while we were on Moose Mountain. The sun created a spotlight over Lake Superior for a fleeting moment as the clouds bowed out for just a bit. The shimmer on the tree branches was absolutely Disney-esque.
So fun to see all the colorful boards and skis that pop against the snowy backdrop near Moose Mountain chalet ♥
Here’s handsome Zach pausing for a quick snap with the most lovely backdrop as we skied together.
We’ll close with a panoramic moment featuring the backside of Moose Mountain. There’s an overlook just off the gondola area where you can hike a short trek to see the snowy vista, and the Superior Hiking Trail offers further groomed paths for adventure. If you’re heading to Lutsen and need a convenient place to stay – and play – check availability of our ski-in-ski-out and pup-friendly condo 142C here.
Carson can vouch for the pro-pet accommodations 🙂 And, if you take in the slopes, let us know how your trip goes! xo
