Raise those trusted roasting sticks high! Turns out August 10 is National S’mores Day….

If you’re anywhere a campsite, or microwave for that matter, celebrate with a triple-decker stack of deliciousness. Nestle those toasted marshmallows and chocolate bar right between two graham cracker squares – then enjoy! The gooier the better in my humble opinion.
On our recent 142C visit, Eric, Carson and I made our way down to the dedicated s’mores campfire. That’s right, friends. Here’s how much this endearing Lutsen resort believes in the beauty of s’mores! There is a nightly reserved bonfire at Caribou Highlands for guests to enjoy a complementary s’more….or four.
This is not just an every-now-and-then, happenstance type situation. The evening s’more gathering—this round-about for dessert makers of all ages—may be one of my favorite traditions at Caribou. Here you easily meet your neighbors sitting on the hewn log benches, pass the roasting sticks, share a smile with the kiddos, scratch those friendly furry friends behind the ear, share hiking adventures, chat about dining recommendations, converse about the Poplar River canoe tour, recap the day’s ping-pong game or simply have a conversation with your better half while s/he graciously makes you a s’more 🙂
Every night, s’mores on the house and an XL stack of split firewood within reach to keep that fire burning. Roast your own and enjoy vacation made simple with simply one of the best ways to unwind.
Here’s to a toast to s’more day. I hope you find a friendly campfire in your near future! And, kindly pass the roasting stick once you’re through. xo
