Ahhhh….the St. Paul-or-bust (or alternatively known as the reluctant-to-return-south-to-the-homestead) road trip. It can carry you only so far until a person breaks, in more ways than one…

Where to surrender, that’s a pretty darn good question (using my Minnesota-speak right there!).  How far can you push it before you, or your endearing travel companions lose it? Where, oh where, to stop along Minnesota’s Highway 61 that will appease the majority?

If you’re near to Duluth, the answer, my friend, is the delightful and delicious New London Café. Eric and I popped in for a late breakfast or brunch or whatever was on the menu on a wintery Sunday. Piping-hot and endless cups of coffee for the win! And, we were impressed with the food, the charm, the hospitality and the convenient location. Eric had the biscuits and gravy, and was quite pleased with his choice.

Yep, that’s a Veggie Benedict – my pick – just in case you were hungry! The diced New London potatoes offered were topped with red onions, cheddar cheese and a light seasoning blend.

Located on Superior Street, this is an easy-in-easy-out spot with ample street parking in either direction. Another perk is (thankfully) the bathrooms are clean and accessible. They also have specialty coffees, baked goodies to-go, the desserts looked tempting and the homey ambiance offered a warm greeting. The breakfast menu features a wide selection something for everyone. These photos are a bit hard to read, but you can find their menu here, too.

By the time we were wrapping up, The New London Café was buzzing. You can tell it’s a popular spot with travelers and the locals.

The building the café is housed in seems to be a former apartment building or maybe at one time a small hotel. I’ll have to do a little more research to figure that out.

Let me know if you stop in to try the New London Café. Maybe we’ll spot you there!

Hey-hey! Swing by Duluth’s New London Café! was first shared on FromLutsenWithLove on March 13, 2018. The experience, photos and thoughts are my own.
